Zatarain's® Red Beans and Rice
Red Beans and Rice is a traditional Monday dinner in New Orleans. Serve as a meatless meal or as a side dish to pork or chicken.
Makes 4 (1-cup) servings.

Ingredients

3 1/4 cups water
|

2 tablespoons butter or margarine (optional)
|

1 package ZATARAIN'S® Red Beans and Rice
|
Directions
1. Bring water and butter to boil in medium saucepan. Stir in Rice Mix; return to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender, stirring occasionally.
2. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.
Test Kitchen Tips:
Red Beans and Rice will be saucy. For less saucy dish, reduce water to 3 cups.
If spicier Red Beans and Rice is desired, try Zatarain's® Spicy Red Beans and Rice.
Microwave Directions: Mix 3 1/4 cups hot water, 1 tablespoon butter, margarine or olive oil (optional) and Rice Mix in 2 1/2-quart microwavable dish. Cover. Microwave on HIGH 5 minutes. Microwave on 60% power 18 minutes, stirring occasionally. Carefully remove dish from oven with pot holders. Stir. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving. Note: Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate. Cooking times are based on an 1100 watt microwave oven.
